Chicago 1945 aka Chicago Night

"Chicago 1945" (reworked as "Chicago Night") is a unreleased song by Michael Jackson scrapped from his albums Bad and Invincible.  The story of the track seems to change. Most recent one given by Steve Porcaro is that it was recorded a week after Thriller released (December 1982). However, he said the exact same about Dream Away, and previously stated Chicago 1945 is from 1984, sometime before the Victory tour. To recap, the actual creation date is currently unknown. Steve Porcaro on Toto's site years ago: "Years ago, Michael and I wrote a song called Chicago 1945 – I did the music and Michael the lyrics, he recorded the song twice, but never put it on an album… the instruments were played in a constant rhythm in the 16th note, which was called ‘yada’. When I explained this to Michael, he liked it so much he gave me that nickname!". Porcaro was approached by the estate about using it on Xscape, but didn't give them the permission, as he thought the...

"Streetwalker" is a previously unreleased song by Michael Jackson, released as the 12th track on Bad: Special Edition.  The song was first written and recorded in July 1986 with Bill Bottrell under the working title Florida Groove during the Bad sessions, with further work and vocal recording taking place in Fall that year. The song was originally planned for the final track list but was replaced with Another Part Of Me. As Quincy stated in an interview included on the special edition of Bad: "[...] Michael liked Streetwalker, and I wanted to do Another Part of Me. He wrote both of them, so it didn’t make any difference to him [...] we were going to listen to them, the three of us, objectively and listen to decide which one was gonna get picked. And so DiLeo was sitting down when Streetwalker was on, and when Another Part Of Me came on, he got up with his little fat ass, you know, and started [dancing]. I said, "You’re not helping Michael at al!" It was so funn...

The song is co-produced with Steve Porcaro, who previously made Human Nature, with which Dream Away shares many similarities. Similarly to Chicago 1945, Porcaro was asked about including the song on Xscape, although he didn't approve it as he doesn't support the estate's "straight to remix" approach. On November 15th 2022, a low quality recording of the song from Steve Porcaro's seminars leaked online. We could sail away our dreams to our Never Neverland We could kiss the world and wish upon a distant star I could say the future, hope for us has different promises And the answers lie deep inside your lovely eyes I could look inside your mind and tell that you’re far away Don’t say a word, just let me whisper inside your ear I could see that you are trying hard to be my frien...

Throwing Your Life Away

"Throwing Your Life Away" is an unreleased song by Michael Jackson. The song was recorded on September 8, 1988, while MJ was touring. It was produced while still working with Quincy Jones. The track was reworked in 2009, with the CD appearing in court documents of Jeffre Phillips' lawsuit. The title was later featured on a note with titles of songs he wanted to finish, found in Jackson's house after his passing. It was picked up to be reworked for Jackson's first posthumous studio album, Michael, with the title being changed to "(Stop) Throwing Your Life Away", which was registered with U.S. Copyright Office. The remix was done by Neff-U and Michael Prince. Damien Shields: "The original 1988 Throwing Your Life Away is much stronger. Neff-U did the 2010 remix, but he didn’t have access to a multi-track. He added new strings and guitar on top of the 88 original. Those new layers drowned MJ’s vocal out, so the remix is far less powerful, in my opinion....

I sing of what you see and might think about Because of what you see Moving hands, mobile faces Where by the eye Not the ear traces what's on the mind So when you see hands Weaving the space between friends Think of them as being As though you were seeing voices Speech without sound face to face, hands unbound Weaving the space between friends So, think of them as being As though you were seeing voices Believe it they ramble on exactly as we would And talking with someone we know And even they stumble on expressions as we would And talking with anyone So.. When you see hands weaving The space between friends Think of...

I Am A Loser aka The Loser

"The Loser" is an unreleased song by Michael Jackson. Jackson co-wrote the song with Brad Buxer in 2003, after Brad went through a breakup. While staying at a hotel late at night, Michael heard Buxer repeating “I’m a loser! I’m just a loser!”. Michael asked him if everything's alright, which he answered with “Oh, I’m a loser” after which he explained the breakup. MJ suggested making a song about it, and the writing and composing started in the morning, under the title of "I Am A Loser". The song was picked up again in 2008 and re-named to "I Was The Loser". Michael Prince: “He was happy with the original I Am A Loser demo. But before we played it for anybody else we had a long talk, and Michael said: ‘I don’t want be a loser. I don’t mind if I was the loser, but I don’t want to say I am a loser.’ So we changed that.” As far as it's known, that version is exactly the same as the 2003 recording, although the lyric "I am a loser' was overdubb...

The song was co-written in summer of 2002 by Gibb and Jackson in protest of the U.S. government's plan to invade Iraq in 2003. Gibb first confirmed the song in October, 2005. Gibb explained: "Michael Jackson and I were the dearest of friends, that's simply what it was. We gravitated towards the same kind of music and we loved collaborating and he was the easiest person to write with. The more we got to know each other the more those ideas entwined and it all came to this song All In Your Name. All in Your Name is in fact the message that Michael wanted to send out to all of his fans all over the world that he did it all for them and for the pure love of music. [...]" The track, its music video and footage of recording sessions were finally released on Gibb's site on June 25, 2011, 2 years after Jackson's passing. Now I got a mission The ...

This Is It

This Is It is a previously unreleased song by Michael Jackson, released as a promotional single for the This Is It documentary and the 15th track to the movie's soundtrack.    The song was co-written and recorded with Paul Anka in 1980 under the title "I Never Heard". The song was intended to be added as an album track on Anka's album, Walk a Fine Line, although ultimately it didn't make the cut. Jackson once took cassettes of songs from Anka without his permission, because of which Paul threatened to sue MJ. When returning the tapes to Paul, he insisted that MJ made his own copy of I Never Heard and re-title the song to This Is It. After Michael's passing in 2009, his brothers found a box with cassettes with a "bare bone" demo of This Is It featuring only piano and vocals. The song got reworked by John McClain and Mervyn Warren with backing vocals done by The Jacksons. Although the song has nothing to do with it, it was used by Sony to promote the ...

Sherwood revealed in an interview with Brice Najar: "Michael had called and he wanted a follow-up, something that was in the vibe of Human Nature and obviously something from Steve. We wrote several songs and one of them was For All Time. He was going to put it on the Dangerous album indeed and it was supposed to be the ballad. Michael recorded it and it was coming out really well so we were really excited. But then there was this kid, Ryan White, who died of a blood transfusion contracting AIDS, and it was very sad. Michael had this beautiful song called Gone Too Soon and it had to go on the record. So it kind of knocked our song off the Dangerous record. We were hoping that maybe it would be on the next record,...

The song was co-written in 1999 with Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels and Carole Bayer Sager, reportedly under the title Stop The War and re-written as We've Had Enough in 2000.    The track seems to have been mastered in 2003 and is the version we hear on The Ultimate Collection.    Love was taken from a young life And no one told her why Her direction has a dim light From one more violent crime She innocently questioned why Why her father had to die She asked the men in blue How is it that you get to choose Who will live and who will die Did God say that you could decide? You saw he did not run And that my daddy had no gun In the middle of a village Way in a distant land Lies a poor boy with his broken toy Too young to understand He's awaken, ground is shaking His father grabs his hand Screaming, crying, his wife's dying Now he's l...
