Family Thing aka Addam's Groove

"Family Thing" (alternatively titled Addam's Groove) is an unreleased song by Michael Jackson.

Family Thing was written and recorded in 1993 for the soundtrack of the movie Addams Family Values, but was scrapped due to child abuse allegations in the same year.

A low quality recording of the song from Brad Sundberg's seminars leaked in 2018. On January 27, 2023, the same version was leaked in HQ after Brad's laptop was stolen.

Doin’ this, doin’ that
Without a doubt inside your head
Da da da, da da da
Da da da, dun da da da
Da da da da, da da da da
Da da da, dun da da da da
Da da da, da da da
Da da da, da da da da, da

Ooh-ooh, ooh-aah, it’s just family
Ooh-ooh, ooh-aah, it’s just family

Feeling this, feeling bad
Without a doubt inside your head
Down to play, it’s in the face
Goin’ to face it, da da da da
Da da da, da da da
Da da da, dun da da da
Sin ‘til five, da da da
Da da da, dun da da da da, yeah

Ooh-ooh, ooh-aah, it’s just family
Ooh-ooh, ooh-aah, it’s just family

I don’t care even if it’s wrong or right
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing
We could dance, scare me deep into the night
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing
It’s a family

Awake the life, awake the dead
It’s starting to sound inside your head
I'm dreading this, don’t decide
Da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da da da da

Ooh-ooh, ooh-aah, it’s just family (Just family, just, just)
Ooh-ooh, ooh-aah, it’s just family

I don’t care even if it’s wrong or right
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing
We could dance, scare me deep into the night
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing, yeah
I don’t care even if it’s wrong or right
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing (Too scared, everybody’s double-sided)
(Too dead, everybody’s getting shot at)
I said, it’s a family

I don’t care even if it’s wrong or right
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing
We could dance, scare me deep into the night
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing
I don’t care even if it’s wrong or right
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing
We could dance, scare me deep into the night
It’s a family thing, it’s a family thing (Too scared, everybody's double-sided)
(Too dead, everybody’s getting shot at)
(I said, it’s gonna have dirt about it)
Ah, it’s a family

I Am A Loser aka The Loser

"The Loser" is an unreleased song by Michael Jackson. Jackson co-wrote the song with Brad Buxer in 2003, after Brad went through a breakup. While staying at a hotel late at night, Michael heard Buxer repeating “I’m a loser! I’m just a loser!”. Michael asked him if everything's alright, which he answered with “Oh, I’m a loser” after which he explained the breakup. MJ suggested making a song about it, and the writing and composing started in the morning, under the title of "I Am A Loser". The song was picked up again in 2008 and re-named to "I Was The Loser". Michael Prince: “He was happy with the original I Am A Loser demo. But before we played it for anybody else we had a long talk, and Michael said: ‘I don’t want be a loser. I don’t mind if I was the loser, but I don’t want to say I am a loser.’ So we changed that.” As far as it's known, that version is exactly the same as the 2003 recording, although the lyric "I am a loser' was overdubb...

Chicago 1945 aka Chicago Night

"Chicago 1945" (reworked as "Chicago Night") is a unreleased song by Michael Jackson scrapped from his albums Bad and Invincible.  The story of the track seems to change. Most recent one given by Steve Porcaro is that it was recorded a week after Thriller released (December 1982). However, he said the exact same about Dream Away, and previously stated Chicago 1945 is from 1984, sometime before the Victory tour. To recap, the actual creation date is currently unknown. Steve Porcaro on Toto's site years ago: "Years ago, Michael and I wrote a song called Chicago 1945 – I did the music and Michael the lyrics, he recorded the song twice, but never put it on an album… the instruments were played in a constant rhythm in the 16th note, which was called ‘yada’. When I explained this to Michael, he liked it so much he gave me that nickname!". Porcaro was approached by the estate about using it on Xscape, but didn't give them the permission, as he thought the...

Beautiful Girl

"Beautiful Girl" is a previously unreleased song by Michael Jackson, released as the 55th track on The Ultimate Collection. The song was written and recorded in 1998 for Invincible, although it didn't make the cut.  The booklet for The Ultimate Collection says the song was recorded for the last time in 2004, although it's not confirmed if it's the version we hear on the box set or the Invincible demo. Footage of Jackson showcasing the song was featured in a 2005 interview with Geraldo Rivera. The song was finally released in 2004 as part of The Ultimate Collection.  I'm in love with a beautiful girl I'm in love with a beautiful girl It's almost like dancing and romancing In her arms It's just a part of it Can't you see that I'm In love (Love) I'm in love (Love) I'm in love (Love) Da de de da de da da dum (Love) Da da da da da da da dum (Love) La da da da da da da dum Can't you see that I'm in love (Love) I'm in love with...

Faces

"Faces" is a unreleased song from the HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I album. The song was written and co-produced with Brad Buxer and recorded on September 14, 1994. Michael never recorded any vocals for it, only the spoken intro. Originally the intro was going to be spoken by Nelson Mandela, but his advisors told him not to due to the allegations surrounding MJ at the time. The song first leaked in 2020 as a low quality recording from Brad Sundberg's seminars. On January 27, 2023, the same version was leaked in HQ after Brad's laptop was stolen. These are the worst of times And these are the best of times Racism, bigotry, ethnocentrism, prejudice, hatred and violence are breaking the heart of our planet and strangling it’s soul And yet, we are coming alive As never before Nelson Mandela: a black man A former symbol of subjugation and slavery, guides South Africa Democracy and freedom flourish as never before And a new consciousness proclaims the dawn of the...

Speed Demon

Speed Demon is a song by Michael Jackson, released as the third track and a promotional single from the Bad album.  Recorded in 1986. The song was Quincy Jones' idea, after Jackson was pulled over for driving too fast. It includes a transition to Liberian Girl and is Jackson's first song to do so.  Cho! Cho! Cho! Oh! Cho! Cho! Cho! I'm headed for the border, it's on my mind And nothing really matters, I've got to be on time Look in the view mirror, is he hot on my tracks? Streetwalker

"Streetwalker" is a previously unreleased song by Michael Jackson, released as the 12th track on Bad: Special Edition.  The song was first written and recorded in July 1986 with Bill Bottrell under the working title Florida Groove during the Bad sessions, with further work and vocal recording taking place in Fall that year. The song was originally planned for the final track list but was replaced with Another Part Of Me. As Quincy stated in an interview included on the special edition of Bad: "[...] Michael liked Streetwalker, and I wanted to do Another Part of Me. He wrote both of them, so it didn’t make any difference to him [...] we were going to listen to them, the three of us, objectively and listen to decide which one was gonna get picked. And so DiLeo was sitting down when Streetwalker was on, and when Another Part Of Me came on, he got up with his little fat ass, you know, and started [dancing]. I said, "You’re not helping Michael at al!" It was so funn...

She Got It

"She Got It" is an unreleased song from the Dangerous album.  She Got It was written and recorded in 1990 during the Dangerous sessions, but didn't make the cut. It was going to be included as the 7th track on Dangerous: Special Edition (Bonus Cuts) although the project got scrapped.  (One) (One) (Is there a clap that's supposed to be in here?) (Cha! Cha!) We've Had Enough

"We've Had Enough" is a previously unreleased song by Michael Jackson, released as the 57st track on The Ultimate Collection. The song was co-written in 1999 with Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels and Carole Bayer Sager, reportedly under the title Stop The War and re-written as We've Had Enough in 2000.    The track seems to have been mastered in 2003 and is the version we hear on The Ultimate Collection.    Love was taken from a young life And no one told her why Her direction has a dim light From one more violent crime She innocently questioned why Why her father had to die She asked the men in blue How is it that you get to choose Who will live and who will die Did God say that you could decide? You saw he did not run And that my daddy had no gun In the middle of a village Way in a distant land Lies a poor boy with his broken toy Too young to understand He's awaken, ground is shaking His father grabs his hand Screaming, crying, his wife's dying Now he's l...
